Description

This is a 19th-century water hydrant located 10 metres west of Number 39, known as The Sherston Inn, on Priory Road. It was made by J Stone and Co from Deptford, London. The hydrant features a cast-iron square base with the words "City of Wells" cast on the west side. Above this, there is a fluted circular column that sits on a heavily moulded base, topped with a moulded section. The hydrant includes hose connections on both the west side and on top.
