Description
The churchyard boundary wall to the Church of St Thomas, built around 1857 by SS Teulon for the Reverend George Blissett, is made of local stone rubble with ashlar dressings. The wall stands approximately 1.5 meters high and features chamfered ashlar coping. It steps up the hill on the north side. Opposite the church porch, there is a gabled gateway with ashlar quoins, offset sides, and ashlar coping with a roll-moulded apex. The gateway has a pointed arched opening with a pair of timber gates that have cusped-headed panels and long iron strap hinges. This wall enhances the setting of the church and contributes positively to the overall streetscape.
