Description

The ice house, located approximately 150 metres north of Crowcombe Court, dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick and is mainly covered with earth, featuring an igloo shape in plan. The structure is set into a steep bank above a stream and has a segmental-headed brick relieving arch, along with brick architraves. The entrance consists of a square-headed plank door with long hinges, standing about 1.5 metres high. Although the interior was not viewed, it is believed to be brick-lined and likely around 4 metres deep, considering the height of the bank above the stream. This ice house is listed primarily for its historic interest.
