Description

The gatepiers and gates at the entrance to Crowcombe House date from the early 19th century. The gatepiers are made of white limestone and stand about 2 meters high. They feature intersecting pedimented caps, a moulded cornice, sunk moulded panels, and a chamfered plinth. The double gates are crafted from cast iron, sweeping down to the center with a spearhead design, complemented by an enriched band of floral scroll work along the lower half. These four impressive sets of gates and gatepiers mark the entrance to Crowcombe House.
