Description

The gates and gate piers to Crowe Hall date from the mid to late 19th century and are made of ashlar stone and cast or wrought iron. The structure features a pair of tall piers, each approximately 750 millimeters square, set on deep moulded bases. These piers have a mid band, a heavy moulded entablature, and blockings topped with large decorative urns. The right-hand pier includes an original bell-pull and escutcheon. Attached to these piers are a pair of heavy iron gates, which have twisted rails, curved bracing, dog bars, a mid-rail, and decorative open fleur-de-lys finials on every fourth bar.
