Description

This 18th-century front boundary wall, and possibly of 20th-century origin, encloses the front garden of numbers 3, 5, and 7. The wall is constructed of Ham stone, cut and squared, with rubble work at the ends and ashlar dressings. Averaging one metre in height, it stands approximately four metres from the houses and features a simple plain coping. A gateway is positioned opposite the main doorways, featuring a pair of wrought-iron gates with an elliptical top rail and arrowhead spikes throughout the top and middle rails. The wall returns to the house on its south-west corner. Wing walls and gateways are located at each end, marked by rubble piers with ashlar caps incorporating neck stands and ball finials. These elements contribute significantly to the overall setting of numbers 3, 5, and 7 Hayes End.
