Description

Hele Cottage is a detached cottage dating back to the 18th century, with additions from the 19th century, and possibly incorporating earlier elements. The exterior is constructed from ham stone, with a clay pantiled roof. The west-facing elevation has a high coped gable, suggesting a former thatched roof. It is arranged in a ‘T’ shape, with a 4-bay west front – bays 3 and 4 forming the end gables of a south crosswing. Bays 1 and 2 feature 20th-century metal casement windows with leaded panes, and a boarded door with an open timber and pantiled porch. Bays 3 and 4 have hollow-chamfered mullioned windows with labels, set in chamfered recesses, to the first floor only. Matching mullioned windows of 3 lights are present on the north return of bay 3, and two further windows are on the south elevation, both at ground floor level. The interior was not inspected.
