Description
The stable block facing Pylle Lane at Manor Farm dates from the 18th century and is built from coursed and squared rubble, featuring dressed stone quoins, a stone eaves band, coped verges, and ashlar end stacks on projecting rubble bases with offsets. The roof is slate and the building is designed in a mock-domestic style.
It has two storeys with three bays on each side. The windows are 2-light, bead-moulded stone mullioned types set in edge-moulded architraves, with circular windows above each set of bays in similarly moulded surrounds. The windows predominantly have wrought iron casements with leaded lights, although some have lost their leading and feature 19th-century bottom-hinged casements. Each circular window includes radiating leaded lights.
There are two door openings, both in moulded architraves, with a six-panelled door to the left and a 19th-century plank door to the right, both topped with triangular pediments that have moulded enrichment. Additionally, there is a door opening to the first floor on the right return, which features a projecting stone staircase. This stable block was formerly part of the Pylle Manor estate.
