Description
Cockmill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th or 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed and squared rubble, topped with a slate roof that is hipped to the left and consists of two sections of differing height. The building features two brick ridge stacks and has a cross-passage plan.
The farmhouse is two storeys high with three bays on one side and one bay on the other. It has two-light ovolo moulded stone mullioned windows, with the left ground floor window located under a stopped label. There are also three three-light casements, with one located in a half dormer on the left side of the first floor. The door opening is found in the second bay, featuring a plank door within a moulded surround. The door opening and the left bay on the ground floor are obscured by a 20th-century lean-to, which is not of special interest.
The roof is constructed using cruck framing, and there is a fireplace with a massive stone surround that includes a cornice shelf. The ceiling features cross-beams.
