Description
The stables and coach house at Pennard House were built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from coursed and squared rubble and feature hipped slate roofs. The building has a U-shaped plan with large front-facing wings. The outer face of each wing includes a large semi-circular headed recess surrounded by freestone, mostly blank except for the upper part, which has a Diocletian window. Each inner return of the wings has a basket-headed carriage entrance with plank doors. The central portion between the two wings features two 12-pane sash windows set in freestone surrounds with keystones, along with a central door opening that has a plank floor. There is an apron between the wings made of stone setts. At the rear, there are two 2-light stone mullioned windows. The interior includes stone-flagged floors and stalls.
