Haymore Farmhouse And Mill

Haymore Farmhouse and Mill is a farmhouse and mill dating from the mid-19th century. The house is constructed from limestone ashlar with Ham Hill stone dressings, featuring quoins, a moulded plinth, coping, ridge, and gabled and moulded kneelers. It has a slate roof with a brick stack on the inside of the right gable end and a double-depth plan.

Architecturally, the building is designed in a Domestic Tudor Revival style, standing two storeys tall with a symmetrical three-window range. Each window has label moulds and consists of three-light casements with hollow-moulded mullions and transoms, along with cast-iron lattice glazing bars. The entrance features a planked and studded door set within a Tudor arch, adorned with mouchettes in the sunken spandrels.

Attached to the left of the farmhouse is a former water mill made of coursed limestone rubble, also with a slate roof and stepped stone coping on the left gable end. This two-storey structure has a two-window range, with all openings framed by plain chamfered architraves. On the right side, there are planked doors on both floors, including a stable door on the ground floor that opens in two halves. The windows are primarily three-light leaded casements, except for a two-light window on the inside left of the ground floor. To the far left is a wide opening with a new wooden lintel, which was the former wheel housing.

A mill has existed on this site since at least the 16th century, being recorded as a water grist mill in 1704 and known as Haymore Mill from 1719.
