Description
Ramshaw's Mill and Farmhouse is a farmhouse and former water mill dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. The structure is primarily built of random rubble. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has two spans, with the mill buildings attached to the left. The front span of the house is early 19th century and features three bays, including a plank door in the right bay, two 19th-century sash windows to the left, and two more above. The roof has flat coping and open-pedimented gables, with stone corniced gable stacks. The rear span is early 18th century and has two horizontal sliding sashes, topped by a very steeply pitched gabled roof with one end stack.
Attached to the left of the front span is the mill building, which has a rock-faced basement and a buttress at the rear. This building features one slatted window, one blacksmith's window, and entries to the wheel housing, all beneath a hipped stone slate roof. In front of this is another mill building that has a canted left corner, irregular fenestration, and an outside stone stair on the right return. This building has a gabled roof with flat coping and one square stone gable stack. There is a farm building attached to the right of the farmhouse, but it is not of special interest.
