Description

The Pinfold is an early 19th-century stray-animal pound that is now used as a machinery store. It was built for the Duke of Northumberland and features coursed stone with an ashlar door frame. The yard measures approximately 50 feet square. The original oak plank door is set in a broad, slightly projecting surround with chamfered inner and outer edges. Above the door, there is a crescent moon carved in relief, along with a band above and chamfered coping on top. The walls are about 8 feet high and have ridged coping. There are later double doors on the left return.
