Description

The Old School is a former school building, now a house, dating from the 18th century and restored and extended in 1805, as indicated by a date above the porch. The building is rendered with ashlar window surrounds and has a Welsh slate roof. It is constructed over one tall storey and has an eight-bay facade. A later flat-topped porch, containing an original six-panelled door, is located in the sixth bay. The windows are round-arched with radial glazing bars within flat, raised surrounds. The seventh and eighth bays are of a later date and feature keystones; the former is now a door, its keystone depicting a relief of a heron. The roof is gabled with flat coping. A later gabled bellcote, containing a bell dated December 21, 1869, sits on the left gable. There are two gabled ridge stacks, constructed of stone with bands. A 20th-century garage on the right return is not of special interest.
