3/27 Mill Farmhouse (formerly listed as 4.2.69 Caldwell Mill)

Farmhouse. Late C18 - early C19. Coursed rubble, pantile roof with stone slates at eaves. L-shaped plan with rear wing to right. 2 storeys. South front: 2 first-floor windows. Quoins. To left, part-glazed door. Ground- floor windows: side-sliding sashes with deep, tooled lintels. First floor: a 4-pane sash and a side-sliding window. Ashlar coping. Ashlar corniced stacks in centre and to right end. Right return: wing has, on ground floor a 3-light side-sliding sash window and added porch; 2 first-floor side- sliding sash windows. Ashlar corniced stack to left. The rear range continues in single-storey outbuildings, not included in item. Attached to the left of the main range is the former corn watermill which had a 32 feet diameter waterwheel driving 3 pairs of millstones and with only the wooden hurst now remaining. Projecting forward at right angles from the mill is further range which contained a saw-mill and a drying kiln, later converted to agricultural storage purposes.
