Description

Mill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a pantile roof and stone slates at the eaves. The building has an L-shaped plan with a rear wing to the right and stands two storeys tall.

On the south front, there are two first-floor windows and quoins. To the left, there is a part-glazed door. The ground-floor windows are side-sliding sashes with deep, tooled lintels. The first floor features a 4-pane sash window and a side-sliding window. The building has ashlar coping and ashlar corniced stacks located in the centre and at the right end.

The right return of the wing includes a ground-floor 3-light side-sliding sash window and an added porch, along with two first-floor side-sliding sash windows. There is an ashlar corniced stack to the left of this wing. The rear range continues with single-storey outbuildings, which are not included in this listing.

Attached to the left of the main range is the former corn watermill, which had a 32-foot diameter waterwheel driving three pairs of millstones, with only the wooden hurst remaining. Projecting forward at right angles from the mill is another range that once contained a saw-mill and a drying kiln, which has since been converted for agricultural storage purposes.
