Description
Townend Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone that is partially faced in roughcast, with a stone slate roof on the front and asbestos tiles on the rear wing. The farmhouse features ashlar end stacks with an offset and moulded cornice, and a similar ridge stack on the rear wing with a flue that has been raised in brick. The building has an L-shaped layout, consisting of two storeys and an attic in the front range, with a catslide roof to the left and a single-storey rear wing to the right. There are two widely spaced twin 8-pane sash windows on both floors, each with plain stone painted architraves, and a central porch that is likely from the 20th century, featuring a glazed gable. The sashes and casements on the returns also have similar surrounds.
