Description

Welshmill Lodge, built around 1720 and remodeled around 1800, is a two-storey building constructed from rendered rubble with end quoins on the right side and a slate roof. It features a pair of polygonal stacks with moulded capping at the center of the ridge. The facade includes four pairs of sash windows with glazing bars, stone dressings, and central mullions. The entrance has a door beneath a transom light, framed by a stone doorcase with incised pilasters, although the architrave and hood are missing. The half-glazed double doors have a Greek-key pattern on the center rail and wooden studs.

On the south side, there is a bargeboarded gable end with a two-light mullion window and a weathered string course above the ground and first floors. A two-storey extension features a variety of windows, including one that is a blocked cross-mullion type and another that is a two-light mullion type. Inside, the north-west room on the ground floor boasts a carved marble chimney-piece with herm caryatids. The wide hall has top-lit stairs at the back, squared balusters with wreathed and braced cast-iron fillers at intervals, and two hall doors that also feature the Greek-key pattern on the middle rails. The property is enclosed by a rubble wall along the street, which includes a moulded gate pier.
