Description
Mill Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the 18th century and later. It is constructed from local lias stone that is cut and roughly squared, topped with a thatched roof featuring plain gables and brick chimney stacks. The cottage has two storeys and an irregular arrangement of three bays. The windows are casement style with two lights, mostly featuring leaded panes and set into thatch, with timber lintels above. To the left of the first bay, there is a boarded door in a heavy frame, also under a timber lintel, and a lean-to porch is attached to the west gable. The interior has not been seen, but it is reported to contain a jointed cruck roof truss, a fireplace with a cambered arched timber lintel, a cob wall to the east, and some chamfered beams, according to a report from 1973.
