Description
This barn, located about 45 metres west of Lower Church Farm, dates from the 18th century. It is constructed from local stone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a hipped Welsh slate roof. The barn is two storeys high and consists of five bays. It has "Y"-traceried plain pointed windows in bay 1 and between bays 4 and 5 on the lower level, as well as in bays 1 and 3 on the upper level, with a shortened version in the upper bays 4 and 5. There is a plain pointed arch doorway in bay 2 with a 20th-century door unit in bay 3, and plain loft doors are located in upper bay 2 and between bays 4 and 5. Additionally, there is a single-storey range to the west, which is similar to the stable wing of Discove Farm in Bruton, as both were part of the Ilchester Estate in the 18th century.
