Description
Barker Barn is an 18th-century barn located on the west side of Moor Lane in the parish of Elton. It is constructed from rubble limestone with gritstone dressings, featuring quoins, a projecting eaves band, and coped gables. The roof is covered with a mix of 20th-century plain tiles, Welsh slates, and old stone slates. The barn is single-storey and consists of four bays, with two doors that have massive surrounds, one of which has been blocked to create a window. The north-east end includes ventilation slits and a single taking-in door positioned above ground floor level. There is a small low addition at the south-west end, which has a single doorway with a massive surround. The rear of the barn has a large catslide roof. Inside, there are two 18th-century king post trusses that support double purlins and a ridge purlin.
