Description

Red Lion Cottage is an 18th-century house constructed from coursed rubble gritstone, featuring projecting quoins, a chamfered eaves band, plain copings, and moulded kneelers. It has a stone slate roof and stands two storeys tall with two bays. The windows are 19th-century glazing bar sashes set within projecting stone frames. A single bay has been added at the south end, which includes one window. There are two doorways; one has a massive surround and a six-panelled door with the upper two panels glazed, while the other has a quoined surround and was inserted to serve a 19th-century shop in the north end bay.
