Description
1 and 2 Rock Cottage is a pair of cottages, originally built as one house, dated 1735. The structure is made of coursed squared gritstone rubble and features coped gables, midroof copings on the dividing wall, and moulded kneelers. It has intermediate and end ridge stacks, one of which is made of brick, and is topped with graduated slates and plain tiles. The building is two storeys high with three bays and an irregular elevation, showcasing two-light flush mullioned windows, some of which at the south end have had their mullions removed. There is also a 20th-century window present. The cottages have three doorways, one of which is concealed by a 20th-century porch but retains a massive surround. The other two doorways include one with stone jambs and lintels, and another featuring a quoined surround with a lintel that bears an inscription.
