12/334 Front boundary wall and railings, about 4m east of The Grange -

Boundary wall and railings. C18 and C19. Ham stone ashlar walls, cast and wrot iron railings. Ham stone walls about 2.5 m high, with plain thin copings; rusticated gate piers and stepped pyramidal tops to south end: across the frontage of the Grange (qv) the railings, about 700 mm high on a sunken stone base, with waisted and pointed square rails and tall cast-iron standards at approximately 1.2 m centres, in the form of thin balusters with urn finials, about 1 m tall, with linking chains over the railings; the return to the south-east corner of the house has arrowhead railings, the return to the north-east corner a high ashlar wall with rusticated pier, with later pair of gates opposite door; northwards are curved sweeps to a gateway without piers (to the Vicarage, not included on the list). The whole adds to the setting of The Grange (qv) and the streetscene generally.
