Description
The boundary wall and railings, located approximately 15 metres east of Grange House, were built around 1848. The wall is about 100 metres long and constructed of rendered brick, featuring coping and gate piers made from tooled stone. It is topped with cast-iron railings that have barbed spearhead finials and turned tapering standards with similar finials. The wall stands approximately 0.50 metres high. At the left end, there are paired carriage gates that are blocked by railings, and in the centre, there is a single pedestrian gate closed by cross-braced gates made of similar bars. The gate piers are square in plan, chamfered, and shaped to have a segmental head on each face. Above the pedestrian gate, there is a scrolled round-arched overthrow that springs from clustered volutes, featuring a central square lamp bracket. This structure is included for its group value as an integral part of Grange House.
