Description
No. 17 Penley's Grove Street is a house designed in 1846 by JB and W Atkinson. It is built of brick with painted stone dressings and features a hipped slate roof. The building has a symmetrical facade with two storeys and three bays. The windows are glazing bar sashes, each topped with painted rusticated stone lintels that include false keystones. The central window on the first floor has had its sill raised, and the original sash has been replaced with a 20th-century casement. The entrance features a four-panel door with an overlight that has diagonal glazing, set within a timber pilaster doorcase with panelled reveals. The cornice of the doorcase has been altered in the 20th century to hide plumbing. There are chimneys on both the left and right sides of the building. The interior has not been inspected.
