Description
The gate pier, railings, and wall located to the south of The Grange (Numbers 1 and 2) were built in 1838. The structure features an ashlar pier with iron railings and a pinkish-brown brick garden wall topped with ashlar copings. The pier has a chamfered plinth, a shaft adorned with cusped decoration, a chamfered band featuring trefoils in roundels, and a stepped pyramidal cap. The railings, which sit on the plinth, are approximately 9 meters long and include spearhead bars and dogbars. The wall is about 1.75 meters high and also approximately 9 meters in length. This structure is a significant feature of the streetscape to the south of The Grange and plays an important role in the overall setting of the area.
