Description
Bayshill Court is a villa built between 1832 and 1850, constructed of ashlar over brick with a concealed roof and stucco stacks at the right end. The building has three storeys above a basement, featuring three first-floor windows between two-storey wings that also sit above a basement. The stucco detailing includes quoins at the corners, bands at the first and second floors, and cornices supported by console brackets above the entrance and the ground- and first-floor windows. The central entrance consists of a panelled door with an overlight that has margin-glazing. The ground- and first-floor outer windows are tripartite with original 2/2 sashes, while the second-floor outer windows are paired. The wings project slightly forward and have pediments, with quoins at the breakforwards and an impost band at the first floor. The inner ranges feature narrow 3/2 and 2/2 sash windows, while the outer breakforwards have casements with round-arched heads and radial glazing, complete with keystones. The building is topped with a low parapet that has copings. At the rear, there is an extended single-storey range with three round-arched windows that have casements and a crowning pediment. The interior has not been inspected. The land for the development of Parabola Road was sold in 1837 for £50,000 to the Bayshill Estate Company, following the death of Reverend Richard Skillicorne in 1834. The estate also included Bayshill Road and St George's Road.
