Description
Upton Leigh is a villa dating from approximately 1830 to 1850. It is constructed of stucco over brick, with hipped slate roofs and a prominent off-centre brick stack.
The main range is two storeys high with three windows on the first floor, and a two-storey, two-window service wing set back to the left. The exterior features stucco detailing, including a continuous band at the first-floor level, and all windows have tooled architraves. A plinth runs along the base of the building. The central entrance is within a substantial solid porch with a frieze, cornice, and blocking course; it features a four-panel part-glazed door with side-lights and overlight. An oculus with a keystone sits on either side of the porch. The majority of windows are 6/6 sashes in plain reveals with sills. A wide eaves and cornice are present. The garden facade has six first-floor windows arranged in a 3:3 pattern, with those to the right contained within a full-height canted bay. The ground floor of the garden facade has 2/2 horizontal-pane sashes topped with pediments on corbels, while the first floor has 6/6 sashes in plain reveals with sills. The rear elevation has three first-floor windows; 6/6 sashes to the first floor and blind openings to the ground floor, with those on the right featuring pediments on console brackets. The service wing mainly has 6/6 sashes. The interior was not inspected.
