Description
Malvern Court is a villa, dating to around 1830-40, and later altered and converted into flats around 1990-92. It was likely designed by RW and C Jearrad. The exterior is primarily ashlar, now covered in stucco, over a brick core, with a slate roof and brick and stucco stacks topped with cornices (four in total). There are also iron railings. The style is Domestic Tudor.
The two-storey main section, with a basement, has two first-floor windows on its left side. A gabled bay features tripartite windows, with 3/3 sashes on the ground floor and 2/2 sashes above, all beneath hoodmoulds. The first floor to the right is set back and has a two-light window with casements. Basement windows are two-light casements, and a 20th-century door is located centrally on the left. The gable has kneelers and copings.
The south-western elevation, also two storeys above a basement, originally had five first-floor windows, but now has four. A central gabled bay is prominent; to the right, the section is set back with a projecting ground-floor loggia featuring four windows with four-centred arches and shaped 12/12 sashes. Other windows generally feature paired 3/3 and 2/2 sashes, a 6/6 sash window, and French windows.
The interior has not been inspected.
