Description

These gates, gate piers, and boundary wall form part of the grounds of Malvern Court, dating to approximately 1830-1840. The boundary wall is constructed of ashlar and extends for about 27 metres with a height of approximately 1.75 metres, topped with pyramidal caps. The gate piers at either end are octagonal and feature ogee capping. A short, approximately 3-metre, curved section of wall leads to a further pier, which is square on plan, sits on a plinth, and has a pyramidal cap. The gates are made of cast iron, ornamented with a scroll motif and a scroll cresting. They are an important feature of the streetscape and contribute significantly to the overall setting of Malvern Place.
