Description

This is a milestone from the early 19th century, made of cast iron and shaped like a triangle. It stands about 700 millimeters high and has faces that are 300 millimeters wide. Each face features panels with reversed curve corners. The southern side reads 'Shepton Mallet 7', the northern side reads 'Castle Cary 1', and the top is marked 'Weymouth 41'. This road has been maintained by the Shepton Mallet Trust since 1753.
