Description
Butwell Gate Toll House is a toll house from the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a hipped slate roof and rendered brick stacks, showcasing a Gothick style. The building stands two storeys high and features three bays. It has 2-light pointed-arch windows with stone 'Y'-tracery, although the central window on the first floor is blocked. The central door opening contains a studded plank door with a broad rendered surround. This toll house was part of the former Langport Turnpike Trust.
