Description
This is a monument to the Reverend William Hines, who died in 1897, and his wife Ann, who died in 1883. It was created in the late 19th century and is designed in the Eastlake style. The monument features a marble pier on a plinth with cavetto moulding, and it has pedimented side panels with an incised design that breaks through a flat pitched cross gable top. This design is more commonly found in America during the late 19th century. The monument is located in the flower bed to the left of the entrance to the garden of Chapel House, serving as a dignified reminder of the original purpose of the building. It is primarily listed for its historic interest.
