Description

The Brotherton Memorial in Weaste Cemetery is a monument dating from around 1857. It was designed by T. Holmes and W. Walker, with the carving done by T. Williams. The memorial is made of sandstone and is in the Gothic revival style. It features a richly carved square base with arcades and buttresses, set on a stepped plinth. Above this base is an open arcaded gabled octagon, which has shafts carved as standing angels. The structure is topped with a tall gabled spirelet that is decorated with crockets.
