Description

The John Hignell monument is a tall chest tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 4 meters south of the porch to the Church of St. Mary. It dates from 1746 and is made of limestone. The monument features large side panels with carved borders, which are flanked by fluted pilasters. The end panels are fielded, and it has a cyma moulded base with a plain frieze and a cornice moulded top. The tomb is inscribed to John Hignell, who died in 1746.
