Description
The building is a farm structure known as the barn adjoining Pomeroy's Farmhouse to the north, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of red sandstone random rubble with brick dressings and features a plain clay tile roof covering the entire range. The barn consists of three bays with a Dutch barn design and a king post roof, while weatherboarding extends below the eaves, though it is partially damaged. The layout is oriented north-south, with a loft over the cartshed and the Dutch barn, which also serves as the entrance to the foldyard on the east front.
On the east front, there is a square-headed entrance to the granary on the first floor, accessed by an external flight of stairs. The ground floor has double doors on the right, set under a segmental brick relieving arch. The west front is unlit. This barn makes an important contribution to the street scene in the center of Staplegrove Village, located adjacent to Pomeroy's Farmhouse to the south.
