Description

Plas Cerrig Farm features a rubble-stone farm building that dates back to the 18th century. It has rock-faced quoins and dressings, topped with a slate roof that is supported by coped gables on moulded kneelers. The structure is aligned north-south, with the cart shed and granary located at the south end and the barn at the north end.

The openings throughout the building have arched heads with keystones. On the east side facing the yard, the two-bay cart shed showcases elliptical arches and a segmental-headed doorway with a boarded door to the right. Above, in the granary, there are three segmental-headed openings; the central one retains its boarded door, while the outer openings have been fitted with added glazing.

The barn features a segmental-headed doorway with a boarded door, to the left of which are two tiers of ventilation strips that are partly infilled, along with a boarded doorway in the upper right. The south gable end includes external stone steps leading to a segmental-headed boarded door that accesses the granary. At the rear of the barn, there is a doorway similar to the one at the front, with an added lean-to to the left. To the right of center, there are four loft openings that match those at the front, as well as a segmental-headed window located in the rear of the cart shed.

Inside, the barn boasts a three-bay king-post roof, and there is a full-height rubble-stone dividing wall between the barn and the cart shed.
