Description
The cow shed at Plas Cerrig Farm is a 19th-century building constructed from rubble stone, featuring a loft and consisting of six bays. It has rock-faced dressings and quoins, topped with a galvanised sheet metal roof supported by original trusses. The front of the shed faces the yard and includes open bays that are set under keyed elliptical arches. The two bays on the left are partially blocked with brick and are enclosed within a late 20th-century lean-to, while the right-hand bay is also partially blocked with brick and has an added lean-to. The loft area features keyed segmental-headed boarded openings. The rear of the shed has similar loft openings, some of which have been fitted with glazing, and there is a central doorway with flanking mid-20th-century metal-framed windows. The two right-hand bays include narrow ventilation strips. The north gable end, which faces uphill, has external steps with concrete treads leading up to a segmental-headed loft doorway.
The roof consists of six bays supported by trusses with king posts and raking struts. The tie beam at the north end is inscribed with the name 'D Jones Esq 1864'.
