Description
This is an unidentified chest tomb located in the churchyard, twelve metres south of the porch of the Church of St John the Evangelist. The tomb dates from around 1800 and is made of Doulting stone. It has a sarcophagus shape and features a ledger top, a hexagonal plan with arcorati at the corners, and inset panels, although one panel is missing on the south side. The tomb has a chamfered plinth and an inscription on the north side that is illegible. It is noted for its unusual Grecian style.
