Description

The building consists of a barn, a thatched outbuilding, a stone wall, and walls surrounding the walled garden, all located north of Pomeroy House. Likely dating from the 18th century, the barn is rendered and features a thatched roof that is hipped at both ends. The outbuilding is constructed from stone rubble and brick, also topped with a hipped thatched roof and includes a stack. There is a flint rubble wall and handmade Flemish bond brick walls that form the walled garden.

The barn is situated at the rear (north) of the house and runs parallel to the main range, creating a yard with the house's rear wings. It has two large openings on the south side and a full-height blocked doorway on the rear left, suggesting it may have been used as a cider barn, with the rear left entrance intended for carts. North of the barn, there is a smaller, thatched heated outbuilding that may have served as a gardener's workshop. A section of flint rubble walling runs along the east end of both buildings.

The barn features a loft with two 2-leaf doors at the entrances on the south side, one to the left and one to the right, along with two windows and a loft loading door in the center. The roof trusses are pegged A-frame and exhibit characteristics typical of the 18th century. The thatched outbuilding has a brick wall on the west side and may have originally been open-fronted; it includes a chamfered doorframe and an 18th-century plank door on the north side. This group of structures has significant value in relation to Pomeroy House.
