Description

Windsor Cottage is a late 17th-century house, significantly altered in the late 20th century. The house is whitewashed and rendered, with a thatched roof. The roof is hipped at one end and gabled at the other. It has a rear lateral stack and a stack at the left end of the main range, and an end stack to the wing. The original layout was L-shaped, with the wing likely serving as the kitchen. The entrance is situated in the angle between these two parts of the house.

From the front, there is one window on the main elevation, and two windows to the inner return of the wing. A thatched porch from the 20th century sits in the angle. The windows are 20th-century 3-light casements with square leaded panes. Ground floor windows incorporate transoms, while the first-floor windows do not. The gable end of the wing has three 20th-century windows. The interior has been modernized, although some original 17th-century carpentry has been reused. The property sits on the edge of an exceptional village characterized by traditional thatched houses.
