Description
No. 89 Brook Street is a detached cottage dated 1672, constructed from local stone rubble. It features a diagonal asbestos cement slate roof with plain overhanging gables and brick end chimney stacks. The cottage is two storeys high and consists of three bays. It has relatively large two-light leaded casement windows with iron framed opening lights that have loop catches, all set under timber lintels. A label mould runs across the central doorway, which has a heavy frame and a boarded door secured with wrought iron strap hinges. There is an early 20th-century timber and Welsh slate porch hood. Between the upper bays two and three, there is a plaque with a simple incised design and the inscription "I.C.1672". A skylight is present in the roof. The interior has not been seen.
