Description
No. 18 Leigh Road is a cottage dating from around 1700, located at the end of a row. It is built from coursed rubble stone and features a roof covered with concrete interlocking tiles, along with a brick stack and a coped verge on the right side. The cottage is two stories high with an attic and has three windows across its front.
The central door, which is from the 20th century, is set within a chamfered surround and has a flat stone hood supported by brackets. On either side of the door are three-light casement windows with cyma-mullions, each topped with a hoodmould. The first floor features a central two-light mullioned casement flanked by two three-light mullioned casements, all of which also have hoodmoulds. In the attic gable, there is a three-light mullioned casement with a hoodmould, and the gable has a coped verge with a saddlestone. The right side of the building is blind, while the rear includes an attic gable with a two-light mullioned casement and a two-storey addition made of painted ashlar, likely from the 19th century.
The interior was not accessible during the survey in May 1987, but it is reported to contain chamfered beams and an open fireplace.
