Description

No. 11 is a small detached cottage dating from the mid to late 17th century. It features rubble stone walls and a thatched roof, which is hipped at the right end, along with one brick end stack. The cottage is positioned at right angles to the road and consists of one storey and an attic. To the left end, there is a single-storey lean-to with an asbestos slate roof. The entrance includes a part-glazed ledged door.

On the ground floor, there is one casement window and one horizontally sliding sash window, both equipped with glazing bars. The attic contains two half-dormers, each with horizontally sliding sashes and glazing bars. The main ground floor boasts a large open fireplace, which has been partially built up, and features one stop-chamfered ceiling beam. The roof structure appears to be original, and the cottage remains largely unaltered. It is a property of the National Trust and is referenced as RCHM Monument 8 in Dorset Volume II.
