Description

Nos. 4 and 5 on Watery Lane are a pair of estate cottages built in the mid-19th century. They feature rough ashlar stone walls with ashlar dressings and have stone slate roofs topped with a central stone stack. The cottages are one storey high with attics. Each has two ledged doors that are sheltered by stone canopies supported on moulded brackets. The ground floor includes three casement windows with cast iron latticed glazing, all set beneath flat stone arches. In the attic, there are two casement windows under gables; the window for No. 4 retains cast iron latticed glazing, while in No. 5, one light has been replaced by a timber casement with glazing bars.
