Description
Nos. 1 and 2 on Old Down Road are a pair of estate cottages built in the late 17th century and altered in the late 18th century. They are constructed of rubble with Cotswold stone slate roofs and feature ashlar stacks with cornices. The cottages are single storey with attics, which include four hipped half dormers.
No. 1 has three 2-light casement windows with glazing bars; one window has lead cames, and the left window is positioned under a relieving arch. It also has a 20th-century door. No. 2 features two windows: a 3-light casement window with ovolo moulded mullions and surrounds, located to the right under a drip mould, and a plain 2-light casement window to the left. The central door of No. 2 is set in a gabled wooden porch. There is a lower, recessed extension to the left of No. 2.
