Description
Pump Corner is an estate cottage dating from the mid-18th century, attributed to Thomas Wright of Durham. The building features a rendered exterior and a Cotswold stone slate roof with ashlar stacks, showcasing a rustic cottage style. It is a single-storey structure with attics accessed through hipped dormers.
On the ground floor, there are four windows and a central door. The windows include one 2-light cross window, two 1:2:1 light bays set on ashlar plinths with cross windows, and a single 2-light casement beneath a drip mould, all featuring lead cames. The dormers contain two 2-light casements with pointed tracery heads and a diamond lead came glazing pattern. The central plank door is framed by a doorcase with plain columns and a segmental head that has a fretted board inset. There is a similar door located in the end gable, which is topped with a pointed hood.
