Description

ST5015 ODCOMBE CP STREET LANE (South side) 10/270 Barton Farmhouse GV II Detached farmhouse. Probably C17, modified. Ham stone coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, rendered on east elevation and north gable; triple-angle clay tiled roof between high coped gables, suggesting former thatch; brick chimney stacks. Two storeys, 7-bay east elevation at right angles to road. Hollow-chamfer mullioned windows in wave-mould recesses below, 3-light to bays 1, 4 and 5, and 2-light bay 2: timber casement windows of 2-lights upper bay 1, 3-light upper bay 3, 6-light of old pattern over bays 4 and 5, and 5-light over bays 6-7: to lower bay 3 boarded door in segmental-arched opening with plain surround; and to bay 6 a 6-fielded panelled door in moulded cambered arched doorway with incised spandrils, no label. Further mullioned 2-light window to first floor, north gable, and on west elevation 3-light mullioned windows at both levels. Interior not seen. No longer a working farmhouse.
