Description
Hill Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the 17th century. It is constructed from cut and squared ham stone with ashlar dressings and features a plain clay tiled roof over stone slate base courses, topped with stepped coped gables. The building has two storeys with an attic and consists of two bays.
The windows are hollow chamfered mullioned types set in chamfered recesses, with an unworked top mitre. The lower bay 1 has a 4-light window, while upper bay 2 has a 4-light window, and lower bay 2 features a 5-light window, all with labels. There is a single-light window without a label to the left of lower bay 2, and upper bay 1 has a 4-light ovolo mould window without a label. Between the bays, there is a moulded cambered arched doorway with incised spandrels and a separate deep square label, leading to a boarded door with coverstops.
On the north gable, there is a 2-bay extension, likely from the 19th century, which has a double Roman clay tiled roof and segmental arched openings, with two boarded doors below and a casement window in upper bay 1. The south gable features another 4-light ovolo-mould mullioned window with a label on the first floor and a 2-light hollow chamfered mullioned window with a label in the attic. There is an outshut at the rear. The interior has not been seen.
