Description

A group of three monuments is located in the churchyard, north and north-west of the nave of the Church of St Mary.

The first monument is the Hutwell monument, situated about 3 metres north of the nave. This chest tomb dates from the early 18th century and is made of Ham stone. Its base is buried, and it features panels with wave-mould borders, one on each end and two on each side, with pilasters incised with foliage designs and flaming torches. There is no frieze, and it has a heavy hipped top with cyma-recta coving. This monument commemorates Christopher Hutwell, who died in 1716, along with others.

The second monument is the Hares monument, located about 4 metres north-west of the nave. This chest tomb is from the 17th century and is also made of Ham stone. It has a moulded plinth with plain sides and no frieze, topped with a flat surface that has cyma-recta coving. It commemorates John Hares, who died in 16--, along with others.

The third monument is the Janys monument, positioned about 5 metres north-west of the nave. This chest tomb, dating from the 17th century, is made of Ham stone and features a moulded plinth with plain sides and no frieze, also topped with a flat surface and cyma-recta coving. It commemorates -----, the wife of Edmund Janys, who died in 1783, along with others, although earlier inscriptions are not readable.
